So I’m very close to finishing off the third book in The Wild Imagination of Willy Nilly series, which is quite exciting. The art for the last of the main images is in and I have a stack of great character renders and backgrounds to use in some marketing material - bet you can't wait to get that in your inbox, right? I’m just working on the cover now with my wonderful artist, and I am looking to do something really explosive and action packed that leaps out of the page at you. Working on a lot of the concepts I use to use for magazine covers.
Once I have the cover, I begin laying the whole book out. I have to do two versions, one for iOS and one for Android - this is because the Kindle is a pretty temperamental platform that doesn't play nice with fixed layout ePubs. Getting interactive text pop-ups, fun fonts and little animations to behave is simply too frustrating. As a result, I place the text next to the image and keep each page "flat" so that Kindle can work with it without hassle. Then I publish it and it sells a million copies, right? That's how it works?
The good news is, definitely by the end of the month it will be out and about. Below is an image that is a sneak peek for Willy’s fans; please show it to your kids and see what they think. What do you think? Does this look fast enough for Willy?
The name of book three will be revealed shortly, so keep an eye on the site over the coming days. In the meantime, make sure you see where it all started with Book 1 - The Little Green Boat on iOS, or on Amazon.
